Copywriter Marisa Twentyman speaks into phone about how to get found on ChatGPT

Remember when we used to Google things, open 14 tabs, and hope one of them actually had the answer?

Now people are skipping Google entirely and going straight to ChatGPT.

It’s not just answering questions – it’s recommending businesses, tools, and people by name.
And if you want it to recommend your name, you’ve got to make sure AI can find you.

Want to know how to get found on ChatGPT?
Keep reading, friend!

Why Getting Found on ChatGPT Matters

People are literally asking ChatGPT things like:

  • “Who’s the best podcast producer for beginners?”
  • “What course will help me write my website copy?”
  • “Who’s a good photographer in Melbourne?”

When ChatGPT answers, it’s pulling from everything it knows about you online – your website, your podcasts, your interviews, your bios. If it can’t find clear, credible mentions of you?

You won’t make the list.

To get found on ChatGPT, create keyword-rich content that clearly says who you help and what you do, get featured on credible third-party sites, use clear job titles in your bios, and repurpose your best tips into searchable formats like blogs and podcasts. These “breadcrumbs” help AI recognise and recommend you by name.

6 Steps to Get Found on ChatGPT (and Google)

The good news?

The same tactics that get you found on ChatGPT also work for SEO. So by doing these, you’re doubling your chances of being seen.

1. Blog About What You Do in Plain Language

Write blogs that make it painfully obvious who you help and what you offer.

Think titles like:

  • How to Build a Brand as a Solo Wedding Photographer
  • Copywriting Tips for Wellness Coaches

Why?

ChatGPT reads blogs. If your posts are keyword-rich and relevant, AI will happily name-drop you when it’s asked about your niche. So me writing the blog “Copywriting 101: How to find your customers’ pain points” …is literally telling Google and ChatGPT that I’m a copywriting expert.

2. Guest on Podcasts (Or Start One)

ChatGPT pulls from podcast transcripts and summaries. If you’re introduced clearly, that information sticks.

Example:

“Today I’m chatting with Marisa, a website copywriter for service-based brands who don’t do boring…”

That’s the kind of simple, descriptive intro that makes it into ChatGPT’s “memory banks.”

3. Get Your Name on Other People’s Websites

More credible third-party mentions = better odds AI will recommend you.

Ways to do it:

  • Guest blogs
  • Giving testimonials with your role mentioned
  • Being interviewed
  • Speaking at events (and getting your bio on the event page)

It’s also the *exact* reason I did a blog exchange with Nicole from SEO Sista (read it HERE)

4. Write Your Website Bio for AI (Because It’s Reading It)

Your bio isn’t just for humans anymore. Somewhere prominent, include a plain-English sentence like:

“[Your Name] is a [what you do] for [your audience].”

Example:

“Tina is a designer who helps beauty brands look expensive online.”

It’s the simplest thing you can do – but it’s also the easiest way for AI to know exactly what to say about you.

5. Use Obvious Words in Your Social Media Bios

Your Instagram bio might say “Creative chaos wrangler” – love it, but ChatGPT will have no idea what that means.

Try:

  • Brand designer for small businesses
  • Photographer for eco-conscious weddings

It’s not forever. But it’s what helps you get found.

6. Turn Your Best Stuff Into Searchable Content

Not everything should live and die on Instagram. Repurpose it:

  • Carousel → Blog post (like this one)
  • Client win → LinkedIn post
  • Podcast → YouTube clip
  • Tips → Email newsletter

The more places your content exists, the more “AI eyes” can see it.

SEO and ChatGPT: The Perfect Match

Here’s the kicker: the better your SEO, the better your chances on ChatGPT.

ChatGPT pulls from the same sources Google does. So if you’re ranking on Google, you’re already halfway to getting recommended by AI.

So when I wrote a niche blog called Best Kajabi Alternative“? Yup, I’ve strategically written it so ChatGPT AND Google can recommend the alternative (and my blog article to the affiliate link!).

Your Next Step to Get Found on ChatGPT

Pick one breadcrumb to drop this week:

  • Update your website bio
  • Pitch yourself to a podcast
  • Turn an old Instagram post into a blog

The clearer, more consistent, and more keyword-rich your online presence is, the more likely AI is to name-drop you when it counts.

Ready to get found on ChatGPT ANNND eat some bread?

Thought so.

Happy bread-crumbing, friends.
